The UKs long and Intensive Gambling History

The Englishmen have a proud history of gambling, and many casino games developed and matured at English grounds during the last three centuries. If you had a chance to visit an average English tavern at mid-day in the 18th century, then you would have been stepping inside a regular casino, but without the luxuries halls or the free drinks or food.

You would have spotted hard working Englishmen playing a game of dice, which later evolved to craps, at other tables there would have strange boards, that look very similar to modern backgammon tables, and let's not forget card games – variations of free blackjack, baccarat and so on. The only thing missing would be a roulette table and a slot machines' hall.

Though many casino games didn't originated in England, since they were brought there by Roman soldiers in the first century, or by merchants from the Far East and the Middle East during the 13th and 15th century, most casino games were shaped by English and Anglo-Saxon folklore, myths and the hard English life. Perhaps we cannot call England as the birth place of casinos place, but England was where they were nourished and developed.
